Is it a goal of yours to discover sources of backlinks that can be copied with little effort? The number of inbound links is one of the two most important factors used by Google to determine a page’s ranking.
How do we know this? A few years ago, they made the confirmation.
Our research found that pages with more backlinks also received more organic search engine traffic from Google.
The key to discovering high-quality, Google-ranking backlinks
Learn the link-building strategies of your rivals and adopt them yourself.
Having trouble identifying your rivals. They are the websites that now dominate Google search results for the terms you wish to target. Discovering the connections that boosted their rankings and then imitating them is your mission.
Links to your site: where to look (to any webpage or website)
Go to the Ahrefs Site Explorer;
You can enter any domain or URL here (like https://competitor.com or https://competitor.blog/blog-post/).
Use the “precise URL” or “*.domain/*” mode depending on whether you’re looking for a specific page or a whole website;
See the report on backlinks (on the left-hand menu)
Afterwards, you’ll get a list of websites and pages that link back to the one you’ve chosen, along with a tonne of information, such as:
Where the link originated (the referring page);
Clickable text (also known as anchor text) that directs readers to the linked page;
Google search traffic estimates to the linked page;
As a first occurrence (when we first saw the link)
A Step-by-Step Guide to Stealing Your Competitors’ Backlinks
Backlinks are something you should constantly investigate on a per-page basis.
I cannot stress this enough: do not examine all of the links that lead to a competitor’s website if you intend to steal links from them. Before attempting to recreate backlinks, you should always investigate the source page.
SIDENOTE. It’s acceptable to begin investigating from a competing website’s homepage if you intend to use that information to develop links to your own. Please remember to focus on the specific URL and not the complete domain name when doing your research.
Let’s analyse the best practises for locating reusable backlinks in these scenarios.
Locate a high-traffic, highly-relevant page that has been linked to extensively
Since we don’t currently have any content, let’s pretend we want to develop backlinks to ahrefs.com.
Finding a page with many incoming links is our first order of business. Then, we’ll improve upon the ideas presented here. Last but not least, we’ll employ this fresh material to recreate some of the original page’s inbound links.
Let’s begin with analysing the most popular pages on moz.com, one of our competitors, and determine which ones were linked to the most. We’ll use Site Explorer’s Best by Links report for this purpose.
Classify the incoming links
A fully automated system for link discovery is not possible. There will always be a need for some level of human inspection.
So, what if the page you’re browsing has a backlinks report that looks like this?
Obviously, no one has the time to carefully inspect all of those links. Fortunately, that is not necessary.
Sadly, many of these links won’t be worth your time for various reasons, such as their low quality, nofollow status, or origin in a language you don’t understand.
Locate links that can be replicated
You should now have a clean, curated list of backlinks from which you can draw inspiration for possible replication. Let’s go on to the second half of the equation and discover the “replicable” links.
At this point, many “marketers” start to slack off.
Let’s break these down and look at them individually.
Suggestion
These references suggest reading material but do not say so directly. Instead, they’re interwoven contextually within the article’s narrative.
The anchor and surrounding text in the “anchor and backlink” column can help you identify these instances. A contextual suggestion is a link that appears in the context of a sentence.
References to original sources
Often, “source links” will be directed to an article because of its original data, visuals, facts, or thoughts.
By inspecting the link’s anchor and surrounding language, it is possible to deduce that the author paraphrased information from this post. Contextually, they referenced the original research paper.
Individuals typically provide external links to those they hold in high regard. Simply put, that’s how people are.
But how can you tell from glancing at the Backlinks report if a site is linked to another?
Can’t do that. In order to achieve this, open up Site Explorer and type in the domain of your rival to view the Referring domains report.
Have you tried ranking without using backlinks?
That’s entirely feasible, of course. The problem is that it rarely happens.
How do we know this? Why? Because a page’s keyword rankings improve in proportion to the amount of domains linking to it (in the top 100).
A quick review: Content Explorer is essentially a subset search engine that can be used directly within Ahrefs. From our nearly ONE BILLION page database, it operates. The method of use is same to that of Google. Simply enter some text, and we’ll immediately return any results from our archive that contain the words or phrases you’ve specified.
Conclusions
The most effective backlinks can be easy to recreate.
Yet, that’s a positive development. This is a challenging time for everyone, not just you. This levels the playing field so that high-quality material is the primary factor in determining rankings.
Yet, producing excellent material isn’t enough. It’s also important that people, especially those in authoritative positions, are aware of its existence. Blogger outreach is a good strategy for reaching out to the right people.
